A Seven-Month Thread Painting Academy
Discover what happens when thread becomes your paint and your sewing machine becomes your brush.
Stitch & Shade is a seven-month, hands-on thread painting academy designed to help you move beyond simply stitching a design and begin creating depth, dimension, texture, and expression with thread.
Whether you are new to thread painting or ready to strengthen your skills, you’ll be guided step by step through the artistic foundations of realistic thread painting. Each month builds on the skills learned before it, giving you time to practice, grow, and develop confidence without feeling like you have to master everything at once.
Throughout the academy, you’ll explore:
Machine Control & Direction – Build confidence with free-motion stitching and learn how stitch direction creates movement and form.
Value & Shading – Discover how stitch density creates light, shadow, and dimension, even with a single thread color.
Color Blending – Learn to overlap and layer threads to create smooth transitions instead of hard color boundaries.
Light & Form – Understand how to read a light source and turn a flat shape into something that appears dimensional.
Texture – Explore the direction, layering, color, and thread weight needed to create realistic fur, feathers, petals, and other surfaces.
Composition – Bring individual techniques together as you plan and develop a complete thread-painted artwork.
Artistry – Complete your own composition, share your creative process, reflect on what you’ve learned, and celebrate how far you’ve come.
Each monthly session includes demonstrations, guided practice, individual feedback, discussion, and time to work on your skills.
By the final month, you won’t simply have learned a collection of thread-painting techniques. You’ll have learned to see like a textile artist: noticing light, shadow, direction, color, texture, and form and translating what you see into thread.
The academy concludes with a presentation of your finished composition, group discussion and celebration, and a Certificate of Completion Ceremony.

Inktense Techniques on Fabric: Fall Pillow Cover

Full Day Workshop- 6 Hours
Celebrate the colors of autumn while exploring the vibrant and versatile world of Inktense on fabric! In this hands-on workshop, you will learn essential techniques for applying, blending, and layering Inktense colors while gaining confidence in controlling color movement and bleeding on fabric.
Using a charming fall-themed design featuring pumpkins and leaves, you will create a beautiful and colorful pillow cover that captures the warmth and richness of the season. Whether you are new to Inktense or an experienced fiber artist looking to expand your mixed-media skills, this workshop provides a creative and supportive space to explore, experiment, and have fun.
By the end of class, you will have a completed Fall Pillow Cover showcasing your own artistic interpretation and newly developed Inktense techniques.
• Beginners and advanced fiber artists and quilters are welcome.
• No drawing skills are needed.
• A supply list will be provided.
• The fall pumpkin and leaf pattern will be provided at the time of class.

Absolutely! Beginners and experienced artists are welcome in my classes. I teach each technique step by step and create a supportive place where you can ask questions, experiment, and learn at your own pace. Progress—not perfection—is the goal.

No drawing experience is needed for many of my classes. I’ll guide you through the process with clear demonstrations and plenty of encouragement. Any special experience needed will be listed in the class description.

Each class description includes the skill level, techniques, and what you’ll create. If you’re still unsure, please send me a message. I’ll be happy to help you choose a class that feels right for where you are in your creative journey.

A supply list will be provided for each class. Supplies vary depending on the technique, but you’ll receive the information you need so you can arrive prepared and ready to create.
